Ever been in this situation?
Applied for a job, and months later, a recruiter reaches out asking if you're still available? Eagerly, you say "yes", pull up your notes, and start refreshing your knowledge of the company and the position. Excitement brews. The recruiter sets a date & time and promises a video interview invite will be emailed shortly.

โ Deep dive into thorough research about the company (again).
โ Send a LinkedIn connection request to the recruiter with a confirmation of the appointment you discussed with them.
โ Update and forward your latest resume in the note of the LinkedIn connection request.
But then...๐ฆ crickets. The promised day comes and goes. Silence. ๐

It's tricky, especially when you know you'd be a great asset to the company and have applied because of your genuine interest.
In such a situation, handling the situation can be challenging, particularly given the emotional and time investment you put into preparing.
It's natural to feel frustrated, but keep in mind that several factors might have caused the lack of response - from oversight to unexpected internal shifts within the company.
After a day or two past the agreed-upon interview date, send a courteous email to the recruiter. Express that you were looking forward to the video interview and noticed it didnโt occur as scheduled. Ask if there was a change in plans or if they require any further details from your end.
If the email doesn't get a response in a few days, consider giving them a call. Phone calls can sometimes be more direct and help get clarity faster.
If the recruiter responds and there was a genuine reason for the oversight, you can decide if you'd like to continue pursuing the opportunity. If there's no response even after multiple follow-ups, it might be indicative of the company's communication style. You can use this as an opportunity to re-evaluate if this is the type of company culture you'd want to be a part of.
It's always a wise idea to keep your options open. The job market can be unpredictable, and relying on one potential opportunity can be risky. Continue applying and attending other interviews.
It's essential to understand that such occurrences do not reflect on your worth or capabilities. Job hunting can be stressful, so make sure to engage in activities that help reduce stress and maintain a positive mindset.
If you have mentors, friends, or peers in similar industries, consider sharing your experience with them. They might provide insights or feedback that you haven't considered.

Remember, while it's disappointing to face such situations, they can also be learning experiences.
It's essential to maintain professionalism throughout the process, regardless of the outcome. Each experience provides an opportunity for growth, resilience, and learning.
